The TerraWater Institute
The European think-tank for large-scale electrification of end uses relying on a robust and long-lasting energy system that respects planetary boundaries.
Objectives
The TerraWater Institute supports and develops any action in favor of promoting a reliable and sustainable energy transition that aligns with the goals of climate stabilization, environmental protection, and access of populations to well-being and dignity, at the French, European, and global levels.
It prioritizes, primarily but not exclusively, the widespread electrification of end uses enabled by the development of robust, and, as much as possible, dispatchable generation capacities, sovereign at EU level, with low impacts on the environment and the climate.
The Institute generates, confronts, and disseminates new ideas for the energy system. Our approach addresses both the challenges of nuclear and renewable electricity production, particularly hydropower, as well as those of decarbonized heat for industries and buildings, or the phase-out of fossil fuels for maritime and land transport.

Create
The TerraWater Institute was founded upon the energy scenario for France developed by the association “Voices of Nuclear”. This scenario, acknowledged for the coherence and robustness of the solution it presents, needs to be enriched and strengthened. The institute deploys and extends the TerraWater approach, demonstrating its relevance for other regions and all sectors of activity.

Gather
To develop its work, the Institute relies on a network of researchers and experts recognized in their specialties. With the TerraWater Club, we also bet on the dialogue between theorists and practitioners of the energy transition. The energy transition requires this scientific and industrial alliance to accelerate the translation of theoretical knowledge into concrete and deployable solutions.

Contribute
The institute’s role is to contribute to the debate within institutions and the democratic framework. The institute supports the deployment of decarbonized generation capacities, networks, and end uses through its contributions in legislative, regulatory, industrial, or financial fields.

Support
Beyond its own activities, the TerraWater Institute also acts as an endowment fund to fulfill its mission of general interest in accordance with its statutes. It supports and accompanies initiatives aimed at disseminating and popularizing the challenges of the energy transition among European citizens.
Organization
The TerraWater institut was founded in July 2023 by the association Voices of Nuclear following the success of the publication of theTerraWater energy scenario in November 2022.
