Article and Presentation for the Technical University of Berlin

As part of a scientific event organized by the Technical University of Berlin, the TerraWater Institute presented its ongoing work on realistic decarbonization pathways for Germany.

This research aims to rigorously assess, without ideological bias, to what extent a return to nuclear energy, alongside renewables, could help Germany meet its 2045 climate targets. It is based on detailed modeling of sectoral energy demand, an exploration of hydropower storage potential, and a scenario of large-scale electrification using mature technologies.

While the results are still preliminary, they already highlight the limitations of current strategies and the need to reassess the available technological options.
